And what a VERY special thing for these grandparents to be in the same State for the graduation party!
One of the things that we miss the most, by being Boot Key Harbor residents in the Heart of the Keys, is watching the grandkids grow and being a part of their histories. But this year things are different.
Planning on spending the entire summer here on the west coast of mid-Michigan and even into the early part of the fall (hopefully departing before the first snow arrives but catching the autumnal colors as the reach down the state) we will have the opportunity to share birthdays, parties, and those 'oh so special' quiet evenings with family and old friends.
Staying with my parents, affectionately referred to by many as 'Beep and Bump' (a long story), Pool Maintenance has become our chore for the season. We arrived just after the pool was opened up for the summer and the first thing that needed doing was vacuuming.
After many accolades from Karen, Tom and others, Lew had done a lot of research about Salt Water Pools. Less maintenance, less chemicals, a better feel to the water -- the decision was made to make the switch.
400 lbs of Pool Salt was added and allowed to disperse.Installation of the chlorinator was a breeze with only one small (easily fixed) leak. The pump was turned on and within 24 hours the test strip was coming up within 'normal' limits. The clarity of the water is better than it has ever been. The smell of chlorine is gone. There is no taste of salt in the pool. And 'Maintenance' will be a BREEZE!!!
In previous years we have always scheduled our summer sojourn to the 'Homeland' to coincide with the annual 'Pig Roast'.
Unfortunately this year, after 30+ years, the 'Pig Roast' (not a family reunion, but a family party) will not be happening. I mention this only for the benefit of friends that have not yet received their invitation...
You have not been deleted from the list...
or overlooked...
or slighted...
But that doesn't mean that you are excluded from stopping by and testing the waters!
You know where we live.
We would love to see you! Come on in, the water is fine!

Leave it to Lew! We had a pool for years in Plano, and never even thought of it. Can't imagine what the cost of pool maintenance would be today.
Sorry to hear about the Pig Roast this year. Can we swing an invite if it's on for next year??
Oh, absolutely. In fact, if you are up this way... stop by!
